4th Harpenden Beaver Colony is the perfect way to gain an introduction into the world of Scouting, not only teaching simple elements of what is to be learnt later in Scouting, but also to provide a solid grounding in teamwork and helping each other. Our Wednesday afternoons 6.30-7.30pm, are a mix of creative tasks, games and presentations from services such as the police and fire brigade. The Colony is divided into Lodges of 4-5 Beavers, who compete throughout the year to gain points for their helpfulness, smartness and attitude to win prizes such as "Beaver of the Month" and "BP Beaver". Other goals are earning their badges and, the most prized badge of all, the Bronze Chief Scout award, the first step towards becoming a Queen Scout. Most evenings are themed towards earning a badge and having fun at the same time!
